What a Mess !!
..so i had this uptempo track with a recorderd flowerpot and a generic d&b beat… the beat could definitly not stay that way and i wondered…
what if the beat had one scheme but myriads of sounds… snippets and cuts from various sources, modulated, compressed, copy&pasted following that fast beat… not a single second should sound like another…
What a mess ! Said someone… TURN IT UP !! is my response….

It sounds like a box of instruments, toys and old beer cans tossed down the stairs. Using this track I could drive my neighbours mad
11. July 2008 at 00:27
Wow, very nice! Much better than the old flowerpot version!
11. July 2008 at 10:07
i like the beat-part a lot!
reminds me of older stuff of chris clark or soft pink truth.
but when the old “real drum’n bass part” comes in, it loses again. and still don’t like the monotony of the guitar. keep on cutting!
11. July 2008 at 12:49
Great job! I’m sure that it is not the easiest thing to have every single second different than another!
I really like this snippet. And you are giving us reallly good lessons Rolf! Thank you!
11. July 2008 at 15:22
This one sounds awesome.
11. July 2008 at 15:40
cool. sounds interesting
i agree with hoffmannskai, when this “d’n'b part” apears, its looses his originality, because this typical “amen” break has been used too often
your drum varieties remind me on Aphex Twin songs
(his song “vordhosbn” is one of my all time favorites, check youtube for it)
11. July 2008 at 20:07
sounds a little bit like trentemoller (some parts of his chronicles)…
12. July 2008 at 01:02
hi rolf!
sounds very very good. “kommt frech daher!”
i wouldnt say that the song loses when the amen breakbeat starts.
the amen breakbeat ALWAYS works!!! but it does take away its originality.
maybe you should try to built your own “amen breakbeat”…
i like the guitar but somehow there could be another melody too.
maybe played by piano.
BUT SO FAR I DO LIKE THE TRACK A LOT!!!
keep it up!!!
12. July 2008 at 01:06
did listen to it again…
the amen breakbeat is short… so works for me!
12. July 2008 at 12:23
instead of the Amen i’d try Assembly Line groove for instance… in my opinion the Amen doesn’t work in this song.
13. July 2008 at 16:21
Thanks Timon to make me know Aphex Twin - Vordhosbn.
I like very much.
13. July 2008 at 18:13
I still don’t like that baseline going downwards.
13. July 2008 at 21:37
after listen to it some more times, i have to say i really really like it. untill now the best snippet. i like the different drums and sounds. (after some listenings, im getting used to the amen break… but still better to cut it away :P)
with some more variation in the melodie, this could be a great one.
i prefer disordered drums more than 4onthefloor kick.
keep going !!!

Well.. to be honest..
I don’t like it. It is funny. But I hope the album has more songs that this “mess”
Regards,
Cryppy

I second cryppy!
But since it’s obviously a _very_ experimental
piece I’m perfectly fine with such a post.
Btw, still waiting for the real thing: “Finale”
14. July 2008 at 23:02
Sounds strange, even for Rolf
But Bedder experimental than commercial.
I liked it.. funny, and it made me Happy ^^
dumdida ^^
^^
Keep Going!
17. July 2008 at 09:14
I love it!
And as KristallFire said, it made me happy too!
And I think it’s far better than than this trancy Finale Stuff.
Rock on and try more new beats Rolf…
18. July 2008 at 15:13
Nice one! I wish to hear also something like Feel The Flame with breakbeat rhythm
20. July 2008 at 14:12
My wish is a recognizable theme title like The A-Team, Renegade etc. Something that sounds like Mike Post with more Drums
23. July 2008 at 12:42
that is a cool idea. Take the A-Team theme and add a typical RMB style beat
24. July 2008 at 21:44
the most important thing on this type of music is not to loose the flow in it… in case of this track it didn’t… the beats could pump some more, but thats just my humble opinion.
25. July 2008 at 00:03
25. July 2008 at 13:06
Yes davis, but RMB is Rolf and Farid. But where is Farid? What happened to RMB?
The same doubt is on the topic about Questions. We would like to have an answer, even if it is the Rolf’s blog.
25. July 2008 at 18:11
@ cris80dr

28. July 2008 at 16:52

28. July 2008 at 16:53

29. July 2008 at 22:23
The instruments are great == but I like it a bit slower and more “trancy”
01. August 2008 at 17:55
hey rolf,
