iLok ?
What is an iLok ? An iLok is a thumb sized piece of plastic to insert into an usb slot to ensure that you can NOT use your expensivly bought software…
In my case the dongle is still working for most of the software secured with it but every week a new plug in ceases to function. Which means that i have to mail the iLok to the states and wait weeks before i can go on working on any of my existing songs…
On the other hand i am forced to begin new songs from scratch which leads to even more stuff to select from… But it will further delay the final production… Guess it will be october then…

I guess that you have plenty of unfinished works which could be finished now
But keep composing if you have new ideas. Looking forward for your new album! Probably I will need to travel to Germany to buy it!

kannst du das noch etwas genauer ausführen hab auf deren Homepage nix gefunden….
klingt nach nem Dongle aber der Unterschied zu nem andern System is mir noch nich schlüssig

ja, iLok ist ein Dongle, also ein Kopierschutzstecker. Und meiner ging bei einem Waves Update kaputt. Nu liegt er im sonnigen Kalifornien und wartet auf Bearbeitung. Bis dahin gehen hier viele Plug Ins nicht mehr. Somit sind vor allem Mischungen von existierenden Songs nicht mehr abrufbar… also heisst es Neues kreieren. Wie war das mit der Auferstehung aus Ruinen ? Phoenix und Asche ?

Die Dongle-Problematik kenne ich zwar nicht vom Produzieren, aber im Büro haben wir viele Konstruktions- und Berechnungsprogramme, die mit Dongle laufen. Wenn mehr als ein Dongle in einem PC steckt, gab es schon öfters das Problem, dass sie sich nicht miteinander vertragen haben.

..sie haben mir inzwischen immerhin zeitlimitierte ersatzauthorisationen geschickt…
trotzdem frage ich mich warum das alle anderen hersteller schneller und einfacher hinbekommen…

and for all people interested… waves still didnt give me proper authorizations though the iLok is in the states for a month now… wonder why every other company only neede days to do so…

another update: after working again for some weeks today all WAVES plug ins AGAIN ceased to function. ALL and ONLY Waves plug ins… some mails (one answer per hour) with Waves support today didnt get it solved yet…
maybe i should start a rolf-charity-blog to collect for a real hardware SSL… (its a big mixer costing some hundred thousand only, so that should be easy to collect for you all)

yeah
SSL i only used a software version but i can imagine how the hardware would sound like 
strange strange …the support (Waves makes such great plugins)
