Rock & Dance Elements
Today i was working on a mix of rock elements (melodic solo guitar, distorted guitars and compressed acoustic drums) with “dance” elements like claps and a 909 bassdrum…

I personally like the unusual halftempo beginning (it also ends like that) and consider it as an album track but i also think of producing a more danceable remix with a dj compatible beginning for 2009…

Hm klingt am Anfang wie ein Lied aus nem Film oder so nach Serien Musik nich schlecht. Die Solo Gitare is geil
damit könnte man so nen schönen ATB like Song machen 
(bin kein grosser ATB Fan aber er maht auch sehr gute Sachen). Das Riff klingt etwas nach Plastik;) aber nich schelcht könnte man insgesamt quasi 3 Songs machen Trance mit der Sologitarre is cool aber das Piano is etwas verkehrt für das Riff. Der Riff Teil klingt nach dem was man heutzutage Electro nennt :).Ich würde dem Piano evtl. noch etwas mehr Wiedererkennungswert geben Mach 2 Tracks draus und es passt

The beginning sound cute - especially the piano part. The second part with the hard guitar riff reminds me of Westbam’s late 90′ techno-electro productions. I like more the first part. Can’t wait to listen to the full version

Bis auf das Piano zum Schluss, das imho ueberhaupt
nicht in die Komposition passt - *super*.
Das kurze Solo ab -1:05 finde ich ziemlich “Glimourish”.
Btw, Anspieltipp: Pink Floyd - Marooned.

I like the piano melody, I agree there could be more bass. apart from that, hm, well, I think the beginning is a bit boring, just not exciting enough, it lacks a certain something (sorry, can’t be more constructive here). The (planned) “more dancable remix” sounds more promising.

I like the beginning. The guitar in the middle part sounds a little too distorted, but in composition with the piano it’s all good again.
I like that stuff, that features instruments which are not typical for electronic music like the concert guitar, ‘real’ piano etc. Makes the music more interesting and unexpected. I guess somehow I’m over that hard stuff. Tried to listen to sunshine-live the other day and got quickly bored. But far more I was astonished, that the music sounded exactly like a couple of years ago…
So keep up the slow, melodic stuff Rolf!

It’s really cool until the 909 kick comes in, it simply does not work, they do not fit to each other imho. It’s like we never put salt in the tea…club-ready music with distorted guitarz is dnb atm i suppose. Check the album ‘ in silico ‘.

Mit Vokal ist das ding TOP 10 verdächtig.
Wo hast du die Gitarre her? Sampels oder mit jemand eingespielt – oder sogar selber gespielt??????

I definitely like this one.
The piano solo in the middle is quite quiet
compared to the following e-guitar, and there could be a transition from one to the other. But the guitar is really cool, particularly together with this clap. The piano definitely works together with the guitar, so the piano could be played longer here.
I also miss some bass in the drum, but I’m covinced it will start some seconds later. But on the other hand you can never be sure with Rolf. The 909 kick is okay.
I didn’t know that Westbam made some tracks with e-guitars, but I think of Jam&Spoon’s “I pull my gun once”. I myself am working on a RMB tribute track with an e-guitar, but I’m not sure yet if the guitar really fits there.
I wait in suspense for the album!!!

Ich find die Sache gut - aber die Claps passen nicht. Die 909 Drum macht sich spitze, piano passz auch, könnte aber -wie weiß ich nicht- noch perfektioniert werden…

Beide haben den selben Anfang (emotional) ,aber diese hat Power und haut rein,
Wehrend die andere eine Art Hoffnung erzeugt.
Du wolltest die danziger machen für Dj”s, meiner Meinung nach hast du der Nummer eher die Luft rausgelassen.

e-gitarren riffs hätten einfach nicht zum gesamtsound des albums gepasst…
für DJs ist noch gar keine explizite version auf THIRTEEN STORIES…

Ist denn schon ein THIRTEEN STORIES version für DJs geplant? Mir gefiel die e-gitarren riffs version eigentlich auch sehr gut!!! Hoffe wir bekommen die auch noch irgendwann zu hören

Da muss ich Talex recht geben, meiner Meinung nach hast du bei einigen Songs die Luft raus gelasen. Gesamtsound des Album´s??? Ein paar gewagte Sachen hätten dem Album sicherlich gut getan. Ich finde es gut das du deinen Style weiterentwickelst, wie es für einen guten Musiker typisch ist. Jedoch driftest du in eine Schiene ab, die von großartigen Künstlern wie z.B. Moby schon lange besetzt ist. Wenn die “Stones” auf einamal “Trance” machen würden, bezweifele ich das, das gut ankommen würde. Mir kommt es irgendwie so vor als ob du dich von alten Sachen distanzieren willst. Wenn ich mir deine Samples hier anschaue (Trance Classic, Liquid Ride 1st Version), da höre ich persönlich den Rolf! Diese Lieder findet mann auf der CD garnicht oder deutlich entschärft… Auch wenn Techno abgelutscht ist, warten tausende Fans auf Rolf und seinen Sound! Der ist dir auch bei einigen Liedern gut gelungen…hör dir jedoch nochmal “everthing the rise” an. Wie das abging, man man….So viele Melodien, so gut abgestimmt, einfach fantstisch!!! So viel Klasse findet man auf dem Album leider nicht… Nichts für ungut!

I like this version with the guitar, but I also like the album version wihtout it. Good choice to keep the melody like it was. The piano is wonderful.

@thomas: über geschmack können wir lange streiten… ich habe auf jeden fall bei diesem album keine kompromisse in richtung “das muss dem oder dem gefallen” gemacht… feier-optimierte versionen wie z.b. “the rise” sollten ja auch gar nicht auf dem album sein…

- das spürt man, (dass, das album mehr elektronisch sein soll!!)
ich spüre allgemein, dass du “Angst” hast sich von “Elektromusik” in einigen Traks zu trennen.
gelingt dir aber sonst ganz gut - unelektronisches mit elektronischem zu mischen.
wobei E-giterre ist elektonisch!
du machst das schon
