I don’t hear that much differences between all 5 examples, but 2nd one sounds best for me :)

  2. Julian Says:

me too … the 2nd one!

  3. Martin Says:

    I’d say 5 or 1.

  4. Toni Says:

I think there’s a big difference between all these examples but for me track nr.1 sounds best. the bass in track 2+5 sounds too strong and exaggerated. In tracks 3+4 it’s the opposite so track nr.1 would do it…

  5. teddy Says:

I can’t hear any difference. Do I have a hearing disorder? I think I need better earphones.

  6. Julian Says:

it always depends on the rest of the song, but in that case for me it’s the 2nd.

  7. BraveL Says:

    2nd!

  8. 4th floor Says:

The fat 2nd one. What else.

  9. Marc Says:

2nd one, it’s the most powerful of all five and my favorite. This brings the energy to a track, but as Julian says, it depends on the track itself. The 4th one for example is too flat.

  10. Funboy Says:

no. 5! it isn´t as powerful as, for example, the 2nd one, but it can be used well for faaaaast tracks :D

  11. Anexion Says:

Nummer Zwei hat natürlich einen längeren Klang und wirkt dadurch auch basslastiger. Jedoch tendiere ich zur Nummer Drei weil ich denke, daß diese dem Rhythmus mehr Dynamik verleiht.

  12. F-André Says:

I choose Nr 2 :) the beat has the best tone & fits best into the track
the other beats are to “thin” or soft. Nr 5 is too “Hard” & a little bit too deep
No 2 is also Rmbish ;)

  13. hor80 Says:

2nd, it pushes the song really forward! :)

  14. christopher Says:

    hi rolf!

in my opinion (hope the grammar works for you):

the second bassdrum is the best because it has a fine balance in itself. and it is decent but punchy kick..

the first one has not enough punch and sounds a little flat.
the third one is almost like the second one, just too “low”.

the fourth one is again, too flat.

the fith one is not bad, almost as the second one but misses its kick.

just my opinion, but thanks for asking. ;-)

  15. MADCAT Says:

    I like the 2nd one!

  16. 12is Says:

  18. Slavenowsky Says:

    2 IS DEFINITIVE!!!

  19. Timon Says:

es gibt so viele verschiedene bassdrums, aber die beispiele hier sind jetzt nicht soooo unterschiedlich (ich hab auch schiees boxen..).
ich vermissen eine schöne knallende bassdrum, die hätte ich dann gewählt.

in the end, it depends on the whole track… if the rest is boring, than any bassdrum doesnt rescue the music..

  20. raver3002 Says:

I think what christopher told about the snippets is prefectly right and for me and my personal feelings the best description. I like the second one, it is the most powerful.

And I agree with Timon, I also miss a hard and fast bassdrum.

  21. MADCAT Says:

    Hi Rolf,

Maybe it’s a stupid opinion, but why not use all of them in different parts (at different moments) of the song? Each bassdrum could express a different emotion/sensation/chapter of the song… U know what I mean.

However, for the main bassdrum, I’ll stick to the second one.

    Cheers!

  22. V-12/Tropyx Says:

Hehe I didn’t expected that my taste is the same like most of the other people writting here their own feelings :) That’s good. I couldn’t explain in the first time why I chose 2nd example, but it just sounded for me the best, just like it should sound in RMB track :)

  23. Jakob Says:

    Nice album of bassdrums.

But for me they all don’t fit with the bassline. The bassline has quite high frequencies, so there is not much punch. Thus the bassdrum should have enough punch in the deep regions but should have enough attack to be able to get through in the mid frequencies as well!
In the second sample it is loud enough, but has too few mid frequencies. The same with the third one.
Number one would fit for me, if it had a second bassdrum that would add some punch below.
Number five is ok, but not “catchy” enough for me.
Number four is defenitely too lush. But it could be used for break situations, as some people here mentioned before.

  24. Tomek Says:

The 2nd one approximates a little bit my favorite basedrum.

I think that combining the 2nd and 4th would give a nice combination of deep base and a high punch.

  25. Sascha Says:

    auf alle fälle……..the 2nd one!

  26. cryppy Says:

I also agree with the second bass.

It does fit better in the track.

The others are indeed to soft or to hard. (5th)

the 1st is misses the middle. It is good for the low sound. But the high kick sound (sort of tick) is not nice.

So conclusion. The 2nd Bass for me!

    Regards,
    Cryppy

  27. boka Says:

the 4th one is the most musical, i like it.

  28. AceM Says:

    Nr 2 ist die beste - the 2nd. 100%

  29. talex Says:

thank you for 2 - now my headphones is completely broken

    15€ headphones 2 + 5 the best
130€ headphones just 2 is good

bi a man and teke 2

  30. maxxel77 Says:

(”nadel-im-heughaufen-prinzip”)

  31. Robert Says:

    Hi!

Nr 2 is full of energy :)

  32. Rolf Says:

thanks so far… very interesting :)

    …keep them coming…

  33. QdK Says:

Counted from top to bottom, I’d say 2 & 5. I guess those two are more applicable to a wider variety of other instruments; the other ones seem harsher, more tiring to the ears to me. Nothing that cannot be masked/overcome by melodies that are more continuous, but even then I probably like 2 & 5 better, hearing they have a ’softer’ sound.

  34. MIKE MIKULA Says:

In my opinion the first one is the best ! Reason - it remindes old school rave from first half of 90`s, especially deep bass sound, the rest of drums just sounds common these days :P By the way i love mid 90`s songs performed by top german DJ`s what a pity that we hear them rarely on the radio :/

  35. BM Says:

    Mambo number 5 ;-)

  36. Elgrecoz Says:

#2 - Power, Bass is critical. Sound is Hard.
#5 - Bass in the back, sound very soft, more high frequency…

    P.S.: Sorry for my English…

  37. Arjan van 't Zelfde Says:

    2 is for you!

  38. Imre Says:

For me the #2 and the #5 was similar ( the #4 is absolute empty forget it, no soul inside, sorry )
both of the end thats chirping (when u turned up) that is what we talk about
    unforgetable
i know u will do new album, new page etc etc…do it !
but we are in here i mean all of us, we are fans and we will :)

    why second and fifth ?
because they are remind me for that sound what we hear before ( the chirping) from you on the mission horizon

ohh the second and the fifth is same i think…it is :)
