RMB

RMB was a techno/trance project from 1992 to about 2005. Most of the time it consisted of Farid Gharadjedaghi and me, Rolf Maier Bode. There were musical, economical and personal reasons to quit working together and i dont want to write about it in detail. I dont exactly know what Farid is doing now but one of his projects is mysoundconnection.de and i wish him success.

I was doing music before the succesful years of RMB (beside others confusingly enough under the names of RMB Trax and RMB) and i obviously didnt stop after RMB.

So once again - ROLF MAIER BODE is NOT the same as RMB!

Please allow me to concentrate on the future and my own music. I know that many fans of RMB are sad about the fact that this project is not producing music anymore but i hope that some of you like what i do on my own :)

    hi ..

ROLF MAIER BODE is NOT the same as RMB! - Realy????
wenn ROLF MAIER BODE is NOT the same as RMB - praktisch gesehen ja

    so!!!

I suppose it’s safe to say we all know you from the RMB project so it stands to reason people new to this site think all is like it was back then. Since this post will eventually move down like the other posts, maybe it’s a good idea to feature a synopsis of this story somewhere more prominently on this site?

  5. Rolf Says:

you mean like the BUYING THE CD post…? ill make it a categorie of its own so it will be accessible on the right side…

  6. Felix Says:

Ich kann Gaesch nur zustimmen. Dem ist eigentlich nichts mehr hinzuzufügen!

    @Rolf:
“[...] but i hope that some of you like what i do on my own”

    Please don’t be overmodest!
What you’re making is music at its best. And judging from all the snippets here on your blog “Thirteen Stories” MUST be a masterpiece :)

  7. QdK Says:

I meant this post ;) A lot of new people probably will keep mistaking you for the RMB project. So maybe it’s a good idea to mention something like ‘hey the RMB project is in my past now, and I’m Rolf Maier Bode with my own style’ on the front blog page, above the blog posts itself.

  8. KristallFire Says:

  9. Rolf Says:

Please allow me to answer in english so others might understand this as well…
ROLF MAIER BODE music will not be similar to RMB Trax - at least not to my ears…

RMB Trax was wild and energetic and maybe i had a natural talent for melodies as one of the melodies from spring was actually first used on an RMB Trax Vinyl… but for 2009 music like this would be lacking depth, detail and structure…

In the early 90s i wanted to make music that was aggressive and different to the music i knew from the radio… it was a bit like being a techno punk… but i am now composing for more than fifteen years and would hate to try to only copy my teenage self :D

It would be really nice to have a simple name, a label for what you called the “Rolf Sound” to differentiate it from rave, frenchhouse, hardtrance and all the other styles… i will get back to this when more of you have heard the album :)

  10. forum muzyczne Says:

Hey Rolf is it possible to buy your new album with your autograph on it?
    best regards from Poland

  11. Slavenowsky Says:

I’m glad to hear that Rolf,i think i told you this in an earlier post that this what what you’re doing is not the same anymore, times change and so does music,RMB was a typical and unique style/group which was very popular in the 90’s and at the beggining of this century. The thing your doing right now is due to your experience, your implementing new standards to music and i like to hear unique and experimental sounds. You are a big artist and im a big fan of your’s for quiet a while and you always get to amaze me.
I wish you the best of luck in your future projects ;)

really :) which one?? or do i missinterpret somethign;)??

  14. Neri Says:

Excuse me writing about an new “RMB”-Album - but I think you can only benefit from this “comparison”. Apart from the fact that there are a lot of people tasking Aunt Guhgel for “neues Album RMB” (according to my statz), many people simply don’t know “Rolf Maier Bode” - but they know “RMB”. I suppose they will realize the “new” name, at last when holding “Thirteen Stories” in their hands. And at last - correct me if I’m wrong… what did RMB stand for? Farid Gharadjedaghi? ;)

    LG, Neri

  15. Julian Says:

    @F-André: Heaven & Hell EP

  16. KristallFire Says:

    @ Julian: huh?
I thought the first melody of spring was released on a Vinyl (Called “Manitou In Africa”) under the name “Ever means never”.
H&H EP just includes the first Version of Experience (follow me)
@Rolf: The similarities i meant was the 100% “Rolf Sound”. Of Cousre there are differences between RMB Trax and Rolf maier Bode. The 2009sound is more seriously, has a back story that want to be told, and is much more emotional.
On the other side your productions are still melodical and a little bit playfully (”verspielt”), good example are the “what would it sound like” Artikles. ;)
And thats what i just like on your musik. :)

  17. Yannick Says:

    Kristall is right of course.

  18. Gaesch Says:

at first i´m sorry for my lousy english but my schooltime is over about 15 years ago .

no - rmb didnt stand for farid !
it stands for rolf and farid !
but now rolf and farid aka rmb , dont work togehter !

the music also have a little touch from the 90´s , but this touch is so small that the majority dont hear it .
the connection from the earlier time is in little parts like dry bassdrums with instruments with hall .
also is an connection in the way how the individual pieces were put together .
You can hear it in Stellarium .->
at first there is the piano with a bright, very quiet whistle that you just can hear when you really hear the melody- then comes the part with the “blow instrument? like a digitalised saxophone” and than there comes it to the final - all together .
the way how its in the melody is singularly !!!
every song got a really high point - not like the industrie songs .

i wish the highest success to rolfs new project because , when he got success , we got more music from him .-)

@kristal: of course you’re right!!! it was too late yesterday ;-)

  20. boka Says:

I guess everyone of us started out being RMB fans. Having checked the snippets on myspace it’s becoming more and more understandable what is going to be Rolf’s individual projects about. I cannot really decide which one I prefer, I am still fan of both. From now on it is a step forward. Something entirely new involving the roots, ravers nature stay tuned:)

Referring back to one of the posts above I’d be glad to welcome my copy of thirteen stories with autograph on it.

    regards,
    boka

  21. F-André Says:

@Julian :) ah but i think he means Experience?? in follow me the version of the sounds does not contain such a melody :)

  22. wolverine Says:

For me, it is simple..I like RMB music and when I hear the new stuff from Rolf, I hear something, what I like…I can recognize, that this amazing song, which I hear, came from the same person..I want the new CD! Still, I´m looking for some unreleased songs from late RMB time..like Limestar, Time will tell and Free to believe..but I can´t find them somewhere…I wanted to compare the sound from that time with the new songs…maybe someone can help? If not, I´m sure, that the new songs will be amazing!

  23. F-André Says:

@wolverine u can find “time will tell” on youtube :)

  24. J Says:

I think one of the best things with RMB and your own music as well from what I have heard so far is that it always manage to feel modern and relevant. I can go back to RMB songs from 1994 and they still sound very fresh today while other music I listened to from that era sounds kinda flat nowdays. This is a truly great quality which very few musicians manage to master. I have no doubt that I will still be able to fully enjoy Thirteen Stories if I put it on in 2020. It’s exceptional really, the only other music that stay that strong to me is Metallica, and that is a comparison you should be proud of.

I also think that the RMB music from 1993 is very different from the RMB music from 2001 even though they are both really awesome.

What I’m getting at is that even though you are not RMB and your new music is different fromt he music of RMB it sounds to me that they share the same excellent and immortal quality. It doesn’t really matter what name you choose, the fact that you are involved will always be a seal of quality in my book.

  25. Ciriliox Says:

It’s true and understanable, but it’s VERY sad for us, yout fans. But well, you are one of the most talented artists in electronic music, and it’s obvious that we trust in 13 stories. Good luck!

  26. D.Machine Says:

JSays wrote exactly what I think:
You are an exceptional producer, and the music of RMB and Rolf Maier-Bode is timeless.
The only thing that would be greater than listening to your album is if I could make such ingenious tracks by myself. But of course this is impossible, and it would only sound like a bad copy. :(

I was also very sad when I heard that RMB won’t exist any longer. But that sadness ended when I listened to one of your snippets the first time, and I was very curious. Now that your album is finished it has completely turned into happiness. :)
Concerning the rest of RMB, I just wonder if Farid is going to publish some own tracks (except advertising music). But that’s not really important.

  27. Elgrecoz Says:

to F-André: I also have CD Trax in lossless. )))

to Rolf: I first heard about the project RMB in 1998, with a clip Redemption … And I remember the first question I asked myself when listening to him: Who is it? Just then I was struck by the sound drastically different from the whole music of the time. The music was fast and fresh. And the video … It seemed to me that I actually got to the monastery and the music almost from God. This was a real RAVE!!! :)
More I have not heard any other songs until 2003, when some like to dig out the album Mission Horison II. Guys - it was Great! Two Month listening every day and not once. And I do not even know that the two composers, and that they have so much great music …
Years later, I read all this. And now I am proud to say: RMB - this is one of the best projects in the world. I have this feeling.
Rolf, you’re nice people! I’d even talked to you, written a few songs would have been possible. While miracles do occur. Really?
Transmitted by Farid A huge hello from Russia. Let know that your music and listen here.
I love your style, a particular style. This part of my life. And I will always be glad to hear it, whatever the title was in your new project. You’re always in my heart.
You endless good luck, good health and the highest point of creativity… )))

    Elgrecoz.

    @F-André

    where, please? i can’t find it :-/

  29. V-12/Tropyx Says:

We all wish to see RMB instead of Rolf Maier Bode on CD Cover. Rolf wants to make music for his own to not to be confused with RMB. But we all know that RMB will be always Rolf Maier Bode, whatever kind of music Rolf will start to compose. As I said here before, Rolf was doing music under RMB name for his own, he was composing all songs without Farid like first TRAX and LOVE EP etc… And I believe that he also did most of the other RMB songs but we dont know about it.

I really miss those “aggressive” songs from the 90’s. RMB switched a little bit into too much commercial stuff like Spring’03 and Redemtpion 2.0 remakes which was prolly one of the baddest decisions in the band. Also Tribute to RMB for me is the most useless release.

But RMB 4ever, whatever you will call it as RMB or Rolf Maier Bode. For me it’s the same because Rolf is the man behind RMB. That’s the point.

  30. F-André Says:

“Also Tribute to RMB for me is the most useless release. ” Its the only album i dont got :) (i thought the tauhcer remix would be great but i heard the cd and even this remix was not so great like older remixes) :(
the cd was in a too modern trance style … more hardtrance then club or techno club style trance… but the mission horizon was great (on of the best modern trance records)
i think 13 stories will be a real bomb :)

  31. wolverine Says:

    @F-André

Thanks for comment…I´m still trying, but I can´t find it…maybe it´s in me, maybe in youtube, I don´t know..can you put here a link to the song, if it is still there? Thanks a lot!

btw..I also don´t like Tribute, I like only several remixes of RMB, but remixes from RMB are good!

Does anyone know, if this song : Phillips Vaughan - Flatlined (RMB remix) is remixed by Rolf and Farid, or only by Rolf?

  32. quaoar Says:

Honestly, I don’t care what it says on the cover - RMB, Rolf Maier Bode or something completely different. The music matters! And since a great deal of RMB’s history is connected with Farid, it is only natural to change the name.

  33. Gaesch Says:

I definitely do. And I also don’t care about the name, RMB or Rolf Maier Bode, the one WAS excellent, the other IS excellent. So, I can’t wait to get your new album, go on with your work. It makes us happy :-D

  35. Gaesch Says:

also there will be a question for all human -)

is there any chance to see Rolf Maier-Bode LIVE ?????????????????????

i remind me at one thing - i dont know wich year it was but i was wonderfull !!!
i was on a ride to some discos arround Bonn in NRW Germany .
in one of them there was a party with some super stars on the turntable .
it was in ” Bisquithalle Bonn” .
some friends and me , goes in there and want to have some fun and the tendency were good .
i dont even know rmb but on one point there was satisfies and the lights gone out .
a loud bang and the light gone on an there were some nice dancer and two guys with the hands in the air .
at this point i stand in a corner where i could see all i wanted to see .
i had my mouth wide open and stand there without moving -)
at the final with the place to be and a big bang i stand 20 minutes in the same corner -)
from this point i was a fan of rmb .
when i saw what the “stars” done on the turntable , i was affraid !!!
i didnt see them live again .

i hope that there will be a chance to see rolf live !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. Julian Says:

@wolverine: i hold that there is no Flatlined RMB Remix!
@gaesch: also so wie der blog hier?

  37. wolverine Says:

@Julian : I don´t know..you can find it on many official download pages..maybe it isn´t RMB like RMB

  38. Gaesch Says:

  39. Tomek Says:

Things and sentiments from the past should stay, where they belong. I keep a very warm memory of the old times, yet the future has a lot more to offer. I fully agree with Rolf. “Thirteen stories” will be a huge piece to explore. I just can’t wait till I get it in my hands/ears :)

@all: Gyus, I know that mental changes are hard, but at least try to understand what this whole project is about ;)

  40. Yannick Says:

  41. entropy Says:

  42. Yannick Says:

  43. Martin Says:

For me I understand Rolf’s frustration a little; you don’t want to be hunted always for what you did in the past.

But don’t forget nobody really knows why RMB fell apart and all this supressed anger concerning the breakup. I can imagine this was about money/artistic freedom but it feels like everyone keeps guessing.

I ordered Rolf’s cd already because I feel the sound of RMB is lifing in Rolf’s new tracks :)

  44. F-André Says:

    @wolverine here is one track…
you find most RMB vids by checking the related videos…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlWr4T9qHIM&feature=related

  45. hor80 Says:

well that’s “the time has come” (older classic) and not “time will tell” (final phase of rmb).

  46. V-12/Tropyx Says:

Awesome song! one of those which I’ve missed thanx!

  47. wolverine Says:

It seems, that these late tracks are already lost…If they were played only in live sets and the set isn´t recorded… (Time will tell was played for example here : Sputnik Turntable Days in Peirnitz-Insel, Halle (Fri-06-Jun-03)) ok, the new album will be great compensation and I´m looking forward to get the package from Germany :)

  48. Rolf Says:

whoohooo.. thats by far much too fast… though the two main modulated sounds are still quite cool… better than the filtered sawtooth that ruled dancemusic from the late 90s on…

i remember these sounds being self programmed hard sync sounds on my brand new roland jd 990 these days… one oscillator was modulated by the mod-wheel and i modulated it a lot :D

  49. Yannick Says:

Oh, the Sputnik-Set was indeed recorded - even in acceptable quality - and is widely spread among the “real and true” RMB-Fans. Wonder from where you heard of those tracks without knowing the set.

  50. hor80 Says:

rolf, your remix of andy jay powell’s ‘like a dream’ is so good. special thx for that :)

  51. Robert Says:

Rolf: there is no such thing as too fast :-) by the way, it would be extremely cool if you could post some info about the old RMB songs, like the ones you wrote now (what synth you used, how was it done, any story about that particular songs production). Of course just after you finished with the Thirteen Stories posts.

  52. D.Machine Says:

Concerning the different views of track speed:

My new track has 150 bpm. One of the downloaders at Uptrax said that it’s Concorde speed - too fast for him. I guess he did’t start listening to techno in the 90’s when 150 bpm was regarded as slow. Robert Miles’ “Children” with about 140 bpm was the right music to fall asleep. :)

  53. D.Machine Says:

    By the way:
What was the fastest track of RMB? I tested some with a bpm counter and the “winner” was Matisse with about 176 bpm. (That was even too fast for the counter: above 170 bpm it seems to halve the beats, and so it showed 88.)

But times are changing, and maybe I really should slow down my new track a little…

  54. cris80dr Says:

    “Robert Said:
it would be extremely cool if you could post some info about the old RMB songs”

    Yes, I agree.
After the thirteen songs where we will write our comments and discussions, it will be nice to have the same for old songs of RMB. It could be posted in this RMB category, and it will be the place for us to discuss about one particular song every time.

What do you think Rolf? :)

  55. lilacfairy Says:

somehow I doubt that Rolf will like the idea. why don’t you just give him a break, guys? rmb is no more. it’s time to move on. why don’t you just accept Rolf for what he is now?

  56. D.Machine Says:

I agree with lilacfairy. I don’t think Rolf would like to talk about old stuff.

Besides that I am more interested in talking about the tracks he didn’t choose for the new album. Maybe we could listen to snippets of them or even to whole songs. That would be great! :)

  57. Unedukated Says:

“RMB was a techno/trance project from 1994 to about 2005.” 2005? What about Nature one and Goliath in 2006? Just wondering…

  58. Julian Says:

@cris80dr: in a few days you could find everything about the discography in the net

  59. V-12/Tropyx Says:

@D.Machine - yea, Matisse is the fastest song from RMB. I love it very much! I really miss that kind of music nowadays. We need happy music!

  60. Robert Says:

lilacfairy: i believe that those old songs are part of Rolf just as the new songs are. He may have (i’m sure he has) a lot of interesting production techniques, stories to tell from his past that relates to his present and his future.

  61. Rolf Says:

concerning the old RMB song “secrets”: from the standpoint of the producer the ROLF MAIER BODE stuff is much more interesting to my mind - there is a decade of experience between it :) most of the tricks i used in the 90s are not very interesting anymore because todays computer will do the same tricks with just one mouseclick… even the standard preset sounds of recent virtual instruments are much better than anything from the 90s…

for example the sound of the spring melody was a ROM sampe from an roland jv 880 (”pizzicato”) through an external reverberator (sony R7) an then through an analog gate - thats three big boxes of electronics with all the cabling through a patchbay just to have a gated reverb sound on it…

@unedukated: that was the reason for the “about”… the music production stopped even before 2005…

  62. Robert Says:

rolf: this IS a lot more interesting (to me at least) then clicking with the mouse on a plugin :-) maybe because i started making music in 96 myself :-)

  63. Unedukated Says:

  64. lilacfairy Says:

@Robert: I agree with you. but talking about old RMB songs is probably not a step towards the future from his perspective.

    quote from Rolf:
“Please allow me to concentrate on the future and my own music.”

I could ask millions of questions about RMB and their songs etc. But apparently he doesn’t want to answer them and I respect that. At some point you just have to let go and move on. Letting go of the past doesn’t mean forgetting about it, but concentrating instead on the future and being open for new developments. It’s hard to be open for the future if you’re mentally stuck in the past.

  65. Rolf Says:

  66. wolverine Says:

@Yannick : I saw only a tracklist on many pages, but not a download link…Can some real RMB fan post this set on some page? Please?

  67. wolverine Says:

And I saw the names first here on this blog…

  74. Rolf Says:

  75. Rolf Says:

one more thing about the history… i never cared about it but its not correct in the biography on rmb-musik.com for example…

the 1993 and 1994 releases on le petit prince were my solo project. farid did the cover design and worked for le petit prince like he did for adam & eve but he was not involved with the music.

so even the name RMB (without “Trax”) was used by me alone for some time… nevertheless the big success was with farid and therefore i will only use my full name for my own stuff…

  76. christopher Says:

    also…

  77. casimir Says:

    @christopher

In diesem Sinne “counting the days” :-)

  78. Gaesch Says:

    - music is timless…

    sanny

  80. Thomas Says:

  81. talex Says:

    @Thomas sagte

  82. Marc Says:

What a discussion here. I have not read any of this many posts, but some people have to wake up. RMB is’nt any more, now and for the future the music comes from Rolf Maier Bode.
The style that he do now is much more adult than the earlier stuff. I enjoy spring, matisse, redemption and all the the other tracks today as well as the years before but it isn’t the music for this time. And thats what Rolf do, making music for the ambitious listener. Like I said, I was fond of the old music and much more now with the new songs. The old times, the rave times, are over…

  83. Tomek Says:

    @Marc: I fully agree!

Let’s look forward. We all have to appreciate Rolf’s work and effort. He dedicated a lot of his time to complete the album. I believe that “Thirteen stories” will be a great success, which will clearly mark the opening of a new chapter in electronic music. The ROLF MAIER BODE chapter :)

  84. Yannick Says:

Yes, let’s not expect it coming back.

But last night I “remembered” once hearing different Versions of FTF (which, by the way, I really REALLY like) and it almost made me cry and really angry knowing that those fantastic tracks should never reach my CD-Player or anything else.

Beyond all measurement or interpretation -

    THAT F****** SUCKS!!!!!!!

  85. V-12/Tropyx Says:

Maybe rave times are over now, but the music will never be forgotten and always will be alive… in our cd players and especially in our hearts…

  86. Tomek Says:

@V-12/Tropyx Says: It’s not about forgetting anything. It’s rather about showing some common sense regarding future expectations :) If Elvis is dead, you will not expect his come-back, will you? ;) The same applies for RMB. We will always remember the good old rave time, but the future belongs to Rolf exclusively.

  87. Martin S. Says:

@Thomas: I have to agree, to me the new samples sound more “RMB” like than their latest albums. It doesn’t have 160bpm anymore, but from the overall sound and how the songs develop, they sound very RMBish.

What I am very happy about the new tracks is, that they still sound like techno to me, some of RMBs later tracks were so much into breakbeat which reminded me more of hip-hop than (reasonably) fast techno music.

  88. hor80 Says:

    @Yannick:

i understand you. i once heard a live set with the new track “chase the dragon” and then i believed, that “evolution” was going to be the best rmb-album yet .. it’s hard but that’s life. :-/

looking forward to rolf’s album! :)

  89. cris80dr Says:

Yes, it’s hard to know that so good songs will never see the light maybe.
I remember that I listened to last new song (to me) of RMB that was “Limestar”.
    hm… Where it was?
    … Sachsen Center 2005?

  90. V-12/Tropyx Says:

@Martin: Sorry dude, your knowledge about music is really poor. RMB never had so much with Techno (except maybe first songs), it was usually about Trance, Hard Trance, Rave (some people even call it Happy Hardcore, dunno why) music and later with some experiments with breakbeat style, and also downtempo and chillout tracks. No techno there.

@Tomek: well, even New Kids On The Block came back into the music business after plenty of years of being death. The Police came back, Collins came back to Genesis etc. It’s all about the money usually. Bands are coming back because they know that they will earn alot of money cause of this. I believe, that RMB with Farid one day will back (never say never!) but also RMB with or without Farid is still RMB and it’s Rolf behind it :). Also I hope that RMB will back for fans, not for money.

@hor80: I also believed that Evolution could be the best album ever (touch the sky, feel the flame, beauty of simplicity was just awesome!) but probably Rolf stopped working on this album because Trance era felt down a little bit. Take a look at the other artists who played Trance music at those times. They are now doing shit like ATB (sorry for this word) or they are doing nothing (Tomcraft, Westbam, lexy & k paul), because music market changed last years. young people buy craps like Cascada, and covers in club style. Even PVD changed his style. This is bad, when commercial reasons is killing the real music. Only Ferry Corsten and First State are keeping real Trance music without looking at commercy.

And it’s the truth that RMB was doing usually music for commercial condition of music market. But comapring to the other music producers, RMB music was always perfect even, if it was commerce.

Now Rolf is coming back with non commercial music, finally. I’m glad from that. He is finally doing music for his own without looking at music market.
And I hope that he will never forget about his all fans who loves his old music and trance stuff which was never released….

    We just need more!

  91. Gaesch Says:

    V12 ->
dem ist nichts mehr hinzu zu fügen !!!

  92. cris80dr Says:

    Fully agree with V-12/Tropyx ;)

  93. Yannick Says:

@ chris: Yes. Or was it 2006? And some weeks later in Erfurt.

  94. meals_on_planes Says:

@V-12/Tropyx - Evolution is one of the best albums that was made (yes was, rolf did not stop working on it - it is done and dusted)

  95. Thomas Says:

Sorry Guys, but I can not agree with your comments. “Touch the Sky” and “Feel the flame” against “Spring” and “Redemption”? In my opinion the older RMB song`s were much more interesting and challenging than the last one´s. Personally, I liked that RMB were puting so many melodies on the top of each other and the specialized sound´s which they used. From my point of view “Feel the Flame” is a song wich erybody else can do. “Spring” and “playing the liquid” carry´s Rolfs signature…

  96. F-André Says:

    @V-12/Tropyx
yes thats the decision oen part of musicians go back to “underground”
or they chance their style to swim in a sea of thousands of bad musicians

@Thomas I also like Feel the flame very much :) nice catchy vocals..
and a typical RMB Melody its a wonderful song :) not that classic song like Redemption (Redemption had very Classic musical style)

    @meals_on_planes
do you know about evolution why its dusted?? i mean copyrights or trance style or both? sry for the questions but days ago it was getting quite about RMB and then i heard they split but i (maybe noone) has any information…

  97. windam Says:

  100. cris80dr Says:

Somebody knows something more about the release of “Evolution”, even in a downloadable album (where and when)?
I can’t understand so much on RMB forum, since it is most of all a german discussion.
The tracks should be these one:

    RMB - Evolution

    01 4th level 1:47
    02 chartres 1:07
    03 >aprilapril< gangster & breakbeat Mix Extro 7:09

  101. cris80dr Says:

    04 beauty of simplicity 5:40
    05 symphonic rhythm 2:53
    06 endless tripin 2:28
    07 feel the flame 7:12
    08 touch the sky 5:26
    09 artificial diversity 3:08
    10 dragonchase 4:50
    11 time will tell 3:29
    12 free to believe 4:32
    13 killer 2:43
    14 brutality 4:05
    15 aggressor 1:30
    16 gangster 5:47
    17 >april< gangster & breakbeat Mix Extro 7:09

  102. takedo Says:

    @Yannick

  103. Julian Says:

Yes, this is the tracklist of “Evolution”. But this record is until further notice NOT released!!! So at present you had to rejoice in Thirteen Stories. :-)

  104. Yannick Says:

    2x April Extro?

  105. Martin S. Says:

@V-12: You are right, and i never claimed to use an exact definition of electronic music styles. For me there are just 3 main styles, mainly differentiated by the speed:

1.) Techno, including Trance, House, Schranz and what not, usually 120-140 bpm.

2.) Electronic. For me mostly slow stuff like ambient, break beat, etc.

3.) Hardcore. Gabber, Rave (ok, not a music style per se, but rather an event), etc. The extra fast stuff.

But anyway, by Thomas’ comment I just realized what I really like about the new songs is not a special tempo, but the focus on great melodies again, which i missed in many songs from the “newer” RMB albums (like rmb rhythm disease) which more focused on rhtym than melodies.

PS: Just listening to the “Finale One” song from the old samples. I think that’s a perfect Rolf Maier Bode song, hope to have many songs of this style on the album.

  106. cris80dr Says:

    @ Yannick:
song number 3 is Trance Mix…
    03 >april< trance mix 6:00

  107. Julian Says:

    @Yannick: 03 April [Trance Mix]

  108. meals_on_planes Says:

so where did you get that tracklist?

  109. Rolf Says:

    OK, I THINK I SHOULD SOMEHOW C L O S E THIS THREAD….

just once again: i would definitly allow to let you all download/mp3mail the whole evolution album as it is FOR FREE… thats what i told farid a long time ago… but if farid is going to make money with it there needed to be a settlement - which is quite unrealistic…

if i simply upload the album somewhere farid would definitly sue me, so please let us close this topic and look into the future :)

  110. V-12/Tropyx Says:

No! I want real release, no Mp3! Come on dudes!

  111. V-12/Tropyx Says:

@Martin S.: So time to learn! Techno, Trance and House are Three separated electronic music genres.

    More to learn here: http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/

  112. V-12/Tropyx Says:

Please, release Evolution asaa real CD/Vinyl release. I can pay for it and other fans for sure will do too.

  113. Gaesch Says:

    cu

  114. Tomek Says:

Have you tried invoving a third-party solicitor, who could work-out an agreement, that would be benefitial for both of you?

  115. Yannick Says:

  116. meals_on_planes Says:

so someone pls upload it at 4shared.com

  117. Rolf Says:

… this blog is NOT about uploading six year old stuff that i dont have the sole rights of… looks like i should close this thread…

  118. cris80dr Says:

    @ meals_on_planes:

I got the track list on the RMB forum

  119. Yannick Says:

    https://mgonline.gema.de/werke/pageLink.do?searchText=fourth+level&searchOption=title&searchKind=contain&andSearchKind=contain&andSearchText=MAIER-BODE&loggedin=false&andSearchOption=ipname&pageNr=1

  120. Yannick Says:

    Damn it doesn’t work…

so if you go here: http://mgonline.gema.de/werke/

and look for title “fourth level”

you come pretty close to the Tracklist.

  121. cris80dr Says:

How to find there the full list of Rolfs’ songs, without inserting the title?
I tried to search some songs and I arrived to a song unknown to me : perfect world.
I would like to find other.

  122. 8hor0 Says:

six years old or not.. your music is/was timeless :)

  123. Yannick Says:

The full list exceeds the maximum number of hits, so you won’t get it. At least I didn’t.

  124. Julian Says:

    :-)

  125. dgm2k Says:

Brooklyn Bounce’s album “System Shock’1999″ was released after 8 year only as MP3, so we can wait ;)))))))))))))

  126. meals_on_planes Says:

the gema site is a bit tricky.

Like if you are looking for Redemption try
(chose Titel) (choose beginnt mit) R
and for CAE/IPI choose (exakt) 245.52.16.80 (this is Rolfs Number) or 253.68.75.40 for Farid.
This way you can find out that Rolf made some fantastic CDs like ISWC: T-801.933.740-8 or Gema Licensed Tracks like ISWC: T-802.536.592-9

  127. wolverine Says:

@8hor0 : Thats true! If I enjoy hearing of Widescreen today, I can enjoy hearing Evolution, I hope, that we get this..I can pay for it, like I paid for the Thirteen stories. I like music, made by Rolf, so it would be sure thing for me.

  128. Unedukated Says:

    Warum genau?

  133. don dominko Says:

just want to say hello to mr. rolf, must say you are my hero of making the music so i would try to get me a copy of the album–i know it is great—
    Best regards

  134. hor80 Says:

    to all who use last.fm:

the most listened rmb-album is the remix-album of rmb and friends.
it saddens me a bit.. please help to push the good old originals on top! :)

  135. Rolf Says:

    no, THIRTEEN STORIES!

  136. hor80 Says:

Don’t worry, Rolf, THIRTEEN STORIES is listed under your Name and will be pushed :)

But the RMB-Originals are far superior to the Remixes of RMB and friends…

  137. V-12/Tropyx Says:

    RMB & Friends just suxx…

  138. Yannick Says:

Yeah, but maybe its just heared because people didn’t know it already.

  139. D.Machine Says:

There is a nice saying that fits here:

“RMB est mort - vive ROLF MAIER BODE.”
(RMB is dead - long live ROLF MAIER BODE.)

  140. Tomek Says:

    Je suis d’accord :)

  141. D.Machine Says:

    (Not really).
    :)

  142. cris80dr Says:

What is true about the news in Discogs of the release of “Evolution”?
    :O

  143. hor80 Says:

    it’s already discussed in http://www.rolfmaierbode.com/blog/2009/04/02/sunshine-live-3409-2000/#comments

  144. cris80dr Says:

    I know, but I think that it’s a bit off-topic there.
Here it is more related to RMB.

  145. V-12/Tropyx Says:

    you are right, cris80dr.

  146. hor80 Says:

i c, yes that topic would fit better here

  147. hor80 Says:

according to discogs, evolution will be released in may. is that confirmed yet?

    http://www.discogs.com/RMB-Evolution/release/1675200

  148. talex Says:

evolution - jetzt weiss ich warum der name

    - weil es ewiiiig dauert ,- ;)

  149. V-12/Tropyx Says:

No confirmations, no sources, except probably Farid.

  150. Koellefornian Says:

  152. cris80dr Says:

But Rolf, you told that you didn’t find an agreement with Farid.
    The situation changed?
Is the album selling with your authorization?

  153. raver3002 Says:

Yeah, I also bought it on Amazon, but 13 stories is definitly better. Especially the “faster” tracks on Evolution are not as amazing as expected. However, still worthwhile. Much better than most of the electronic music stuff out there
    nowadays.

  154. raver3002 Says:

I think I should add something, because my post before maybe sounds a bit too negative (sorry about that): what I wanted to say: it is good but it is not “widescreen”.

  155. Koellefornian Says:

Yes, it’s good…. but it’s not typically RMB to my mind. Maybe 1-2 Tracks…. it could be an album of DJ Tiesto or ATB too.

13 stories is definetely better :)

  156. Thomas Says:

  159. Yannick Says:

Ich vermisse auf dem Album einiges. Z.B. fehlende Vocals (TTS, BoS), leider hat Time will tell nicht mehr den stampfenden Maschinen-Rhytmus, und Chase the Dragon und das Intro wirken so auseinandergerissen, nachdem das für mich immer wie EIN Track war.

  160. zYx Says:

I’m glad I got here, but dissappointed about this news, but nothing is forever :(. Last time I saw RMB was on Nature One in 2004. It was great. RMB was one of the best electronic music creators. Such a specific music, different, sweet, just great!

Say hello to Marusha, Hell and others!!!

atm I’m collecting all old school tracks. Where can I get all tracks of RMB?

    Thanks!!!

  161. Julian Says:

    ebay is a good choice

  162. Claus Says:

I was wondering whether it is possible to get the note sheets especially for the RMB tracks somewhere. Today I figured out the right chords for Spring on the piano, but it always takes a while.
Any idea, if the notes are available? I think the guitar chords and main melody would be enough to work out the rest of the track.

Rolf, might be interesting to offer something for download…?

  163. zYx Says:

RMB I know I know… but I want to see you on Nature One 2010 !!! NO EXCUSES!!!

  164. Romeeck Says:

Well, Rolf… Of course, I was the real fun of RMB, but everyone has his own creative way, I think :-) Thirteen Stories is big, deep and intelligent work!!! In this way, I like it much more than Mission Horizon or Evolution! :-) Of course, This World Is Yours (especially Passport To Heaven and Your Love Is An Ocean) and Widescreen (especially Reality and Break The Silence) will have the special place on my mind and in my heart, because it was my best teenage years! ;-) Anyway, I’m still your fan! You are the great Musician and you always will be the real legend for me!!!
    Thank for you creation, Rolf!!!

    Romeeck

  165. Peter aka altarnax Says:

    Hi Rolf,
Here is an orchestral version of Spring by me. What do you think? :)

  166. Fossi Says:

    Aber jetzt?

    Bitte: RMB war der Inbegriff in den 90`s für einzigartigen Techno;
