IF there was a remix album…
…of THIRTEEN STORIES at the end of the year with - lets say 8 remixes by myself and some remixes by others - what kind of release would you support with your purchase?
Please be honest and vote only ONCE! It´s possible to vote for two answers, but be honest and do so only if you really would make two purchases of the same album (for example mp3 AND Vinyl)…
What kind of release would you support with a purchase?
- I would cherry pick remixes i like as downloads for 99cent each (16%, 37 Votes)
- I would rather download the whole remix album, if i like it, for EUR 9,99 (27%, 63 Votes)
- I would really enjoy a real CD for EUR 12-15,- (64%, 150 Votes)
- I need Vinyl and would pay a lot for it! (9%, 20 Votes)
- Music has to be for free, so i would download it illegally (4%, 10 Votes)

Download and Vinyl…
14. July 2009 at 18:43
14. July 2009 at 20:45
14. July 2009 at 20:47
14. July 2009 at 21:00
14. July 2009 at 21:29
@Rolf: I mean a CD. Dowload would be the second choice
14. July 2009 at 21:41
15. July 2009 at 07:55

my vote is the CD. but im also fine with a paid download.
15. July 2009 at 12:55
Well, I’d go for the CD, however, I’m not entirely sure if I really need a remix CD. I’m quite honest here: the worst RMB and RMB-related release I ever bought was RMB & Friends. I didn”t like it at all, mostly because the “spirit”/melody of the original releases had been lost and overall the tracks sounded too similar. In my opinion a good remix album would show a variety of styles - e.g. an ambient version of one of the faster tracks, one rave-track and so on.
15. July 2009 at 13:03
…actually I’d love this: each remix should have its own story, that is musical style - all electronic but ranging from blues to ambient to rock and rave.
15. July 2009 at 13:22
I would like to download ofcourse , because I’m living in Russia. It would be faster.
15. July 2009 at 13:39
for now i am THINKING ABOUT a full remix album with 3-5 remixes by others and about 8 remixes by myself… so it will NOT be like RMB & Friends.
It looks like it will then have a MUCH wider bandwith of styles than the original album… thinking of ambient, real club mixes and some hard stuff as well…
IF i am going to do so many remixes by myself of my own songs there will be quite some wild stuff for sure
and of course i would write about the whole process here, you all can listen to snippets and decide if you like it or not… still just THINKING about it being a full album (= more than 10 remixes)
the other way would be a downloadeble remix EP with 6-7 remixes (2 by myself then - i NEED to do some club mixes
)
15. July 2009 at 18:02
“i NEED to do some club mixes”
Yes, Yes, Yeeeeeeeees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :))
15. July 2009 at 18:55
Make it so! *Cpt. Picard-voice*
16. July 2009 at 04:57
(http://www.rolfmaierbode.com/blog/2008/08/)
hmmm… there would be a special merchandise appeal if I would find 1-2 Bonus Tracks e.g. your “Classic Trance” (http://www.rolfmaierbode.com/blog/2008/08/) or one of the other good songs lying in your drawer. As Bonus-Tracks because they are no remixes.
I am sure I am not the only one thinking that way
What do you think Rolf?
16. July 2009 at 07:48
A full remix album, please!
16. July 2009 at 08:45
… and a lot of Wild Wild Rolf stuff on it please
16. July 2009 at 10:41
Only CD and Vinyl release!
16. July 2009 at 10:43
Do you want to have some cool breakbeat version of one of yours songs? I can contact you with one of the best breaks creator in Poland named N.Kick
16. July 2009 at 13:24
16. July 2009 at 20:07
I prefer a real CD. The price around 12-15€ sounds ok.
It would be a pleasure to hear some chillin stuff from you.
17. July 2009 at 13:12
I voted for the cherry-pick option because remixes are usually quite variable and I’d rather only buy the ones that I like. IF you really make 8 yourself and leave only 2-3 to others that might be a different thing, I might buy the CD in this case. To reach a wider audience, I’d still recommend a downloadable option (for the reasons mentioned).
17. July 2009 at 21:36
Bitte CD und download, hört sich vom Konzept für meien Geschmach schon sehr vielversprechend an,” … thinking of ambient, real club mixes and some hard stuff as well…
18. July 2009 at 10:39
i want a idea on that - please post some snippet! so we know what you talk about
18. July 2009 at 13:17
My votes: whole album downloadable for $9.99 and vinyl. I’d also vote for the CD but I could only vote for two. Vinyl prevailed and here’s why: the nostalgia of it all!
Just put the whole remix on one or two LPs if possible. I’d pay through the nose for that, but probably not if I had to purchase 8 vinyl records to get all tracks. Looking forward to the remixes
19. July 2009 at 15:18
CD! + remix by fan which wins in chalenge of remix makers? )))
20. July 2009 at 08:56
yes, a remix challenge for all fans is planned as well
more info soon…
20. July 2009 at 21:38
- “remix challenge for all fans ” - interessant
21. July 2009 at 12:17
Wouw a remix contest!!
Could you do a message to your mailinglist? So I get noitified asap?
The results are great! It is to bad the general music lover isn’t equal to the Rolf lover. We all want to buy the CD instead of downloading it ((il)legal)
That is great!!
Still love the CD. I was worried that it would be a RMB and friends album, I didn’t like that CD. It is great that you mentioned it yourself that it would not be RMB + friends alike!
This is some good stuff coming up!
Can’t wait!
Regards,
cryppy

24. July 2009 at 08:37
Classic Trance as a bonustrack absolutely necessary Rolf!!!
24. July 2009 at 16:15
I absolutly agree with FAN! Classic Trance is indispensable…
26. July 2009 at 17:13
Classic Trance +1
27. July 2009 at 10:34
The voting results aren’t good for Vinyl release but I hope, that atleast there will be a limited edition of vinyl record of this remix album
(please:)
Greetz 2 all vinyl lovers!

Rolf, you can count on us …
30. July 2009 at 10:19
I voted for CD but only for 1 personal reason:
Main reason is that my old BMW car radio has severe problems with burned CDs, so i need some stuff for it
Apart from that, I would prefer the download the whole album option, but JUST because I am a real fan of you, and often some songs (like Muxed e.g.) I would NEVER have bought initially, but now love it. So if the Remix album would at least have half of the songs on it being GREAT (which i am sure they will be), an album is the best idea.
However, if I wasn’t a real fan of you, but you were “Just another artist” (which - sadly, but that’s life - you are for some people), being able to download individual songs would also be great.
PS: I love your kind of fun/realism about the 5th option, I had to smile while reading that
And I personally think, doing this kind of blog is one of the best ways to fight against piracy: To create fans, real fans. Anybody regularly reading this blog will create a closer connection to you, and then just not dare to download your songs illegally, which is MUCH easier, if you know nothing at all about the artist of songs you like.
12. August 2009 at 10:02
An entire remix album that presents the original Rolf songs approached from different aspects is welcome!
15. August 2009 at 20:47
How du you think about Bonustrack “Classic Trance”, Rolf?
